Carbohydrate Counting – an introductory or refresher class.

Counting carbohydrates is a good solution for many people with diabetes.  Once you learn how to count carbs, you’ll find it easier to fit a wide variety of foods into your meal plan, including combination foods such as those in frozen dinners.
For example, by checking the grams of total carbohydrates on the Nutrition Facts label on a frozen dinner, you can figure out how to fit the dinner into your carb allotment for a particular meal.
By learning what foods contain carbs and learning how to count those carbs, you can manage your blood sugar, be flexible in your choice of foods, and eat more foods that you enjoy!

Gail Peterman, Shawnee Health Service’s Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator, offers FREE group classes to any patient of Shawnee’s physicians.
How to Enroll:  You must be a patient of Shawnee Health Service to attend.  If you are, simply call your Doctor’s office and select which class you would like to attend.
