Shawnee Health and Food Works are excited to share their new pilot program that provides free healthy food to your family. This new program is exclusive to Shawnee Health patients! Join for free fresh food and nutrition education. 

Program participants receive:

  • $50 worth of free fresh produce weekly for 12 weeks (online ordering available)
  • Six free mandatory nutrition classes 
  • Fresh produce delivered directly to your home or work


Who is Eligible to Apply?

Any Shawnee Health patient who lives in Carterville or Cambria is encouraged to apply! To apply please submit an application through the form below.


Are Nutrition Classes Mandatory?

Attendance at nutrition classes necessary in order to continually receive the weekly $50 allowance throughout the program. These classes are fun and informative and geared to help educate you on the importance of healthy eating as well as give you practical tips to upgrade your diet.

Classes will be offered in person and virtually via zoom!


When are Nutrition Classes Offered ?

Classes are offered weekly from April to June. You must take a class on each topic. See the schedule below to see what dates work for your schedule! 

Topic 1: Plate Method + How to Order from Mobile Farmer’s Market

  • April 2nd 8:30-9:30 AM
  • April 9th 3:30-4:30 PM

Topic 2: Whole Foods vs Processed Foods

  • April 16nd 8:30-9:30 AM
  • April 22nd 3:30-4:30 PM

Topic 3: Meal Planning and Budget Tips 

  • April 30th 8:30-9:30 AM
  • May 6th 3:30-4:30 PM

Topic 4: Family Meals and Trying New Foods

  • May 14th 8:30-9:30 AM
  • May 20th 3:30-4:30 PM

Topic 5: Eating in Season and Eating the Rainbow

  • May 28th 8:30-9:30 AM
  • June 3rd 3:30-4:30 PM

Topic 6: Nutrition for Life (preventing nutrition related illnesses)

  • June 11th 8:30-9:30 AM
  • June 17th 3:30-4:30 PM

All Shawnee Health clinics are currently closed. If you need to get ahold of the On-Call Provider, call 618-519-9200, press option #1, select your “specialty” needed and follow the prompts for our On-Call Provider. If you are dealing with an emergency please call 911 or visit the ER.
